Creating Safety In Making Suggestions by Gary Edwards
Do you have something difficult to discuss or suggest to someone? Consider using a "what if". A "what if" is a safe way of advancing a suggestion, idea, or your position on an issue being considered. A “what if“ can always be quickly dismissed by the other person and there is no harm done to the relationship or feelings between you and the other person. If the other party rejects your idea or thought, other “what if’s” can be suggested. Take the emotion out of your dialogue or conversation with a “what if” today!
